These files encompass more than 35 years of the dissertations and theses from the PUC-Rio Departamento de Informática, the first post-graduate Computer Science program in Latin America, ranked as the "best in the area", in Brazil, by CAPES 2004 Triennial Evaluation. 

From 1969 to 2001, most of them are available in print format only, as electronic theses and dissertations have started to be a requirement at PUC-Rio from 2002. Besides being available in print format, according to their authors' preference, some are freely available for download, while some others are freely available for download to the PUC-Rio community exclusively.

We would like to acknowledge the Departamento de Informática's library and research laboratories, as well as Project Maxwell (NDLTD Member), for their contribution to the broadening of this repository, as a result of their effort in gathering data in electronic format prior to 2002. Since 2002, the University Central Library has also enrolled in this task.
